Organic small molecules are challenging targets for screening aptamers, and they are often not suitable for immobilization on solid surfaces as in traditional SELEX programs. Capture-SELEX program can select DNA aptamers using solutes as targets by constructing a special SELEX library that immobilizes oligonucleotide libraries on magnetic beads or other surfaces for screening purposes.

Capture-SELEX is a variant of traditional SELEX that is similar to the FluMag-SELEX.
The Capture-SELEX process is very flexible in its configuration. The elution step can be easily combined with a negative or anti-selection step to influence the specificity of the aptamer to be selected. In addition to single target substances, the capture-SELEX process is also suitable for target mixtures containing two or more different substances for parallel selection of aptamers of different targets. In addition, the capture-SELEX principle is equally attractive for other classes of target molecules, such as polysaccharides, peptides or proteins.
