What Is CE-SELEX

CE-SELEX (capillary electrophoresis) is one of the methods for rapid and efficient screening of nucleic acid aptamers. The technique typically incubates the nucleic acid library with the target protein before separation. Under a high voltage electric field, unbound nucleic acid sequences are separated from nucleic acid-target protein complexes due to different migration rates. The complexes are collected at the exit end of the capillary, amplified and purified by PCR to generate secondary libraries for the next round of screening. CE requires only one to four rounds of screening to obtain aptamers with high affinity and specificity.
